sorry, went to Darcy's Pint tonight...

it was really good (this wasn't an original thought i was gonna put, but hey). i went with a group of girls i'm doing a project w/ in my reading methods class. we had a meeting tonight and decided that since a couple of us hadn't eaten yet, we'd just go out and have our meeting off campus. sometimes it's great to get off campus. and it was awesome to get to hang out with those ladies outside of school.

anyway, i was just reading some blogs (i had this amazing discovery that i don't think i have any pressing homework for the rest of the week! so i didn't even feel bad about it.) i got to Herschel's and it was amazing. i don't know about this artist guy, i've never heard of him. but Herschel said something in there:

"[here in America] we're drowning in our sea of plenty."

wow.

i think it's true

then, as i keep reading, there's this passage from Matthew that i've been chewing on today anyway. i was reading in Velvet Elvis today (i know, i'm behind the crowd, sorry), and Rob Bell was talking about what Jesus really meant when He said His yoke was easy. i didn't understand until Bell put some context with it - a Rabbi's yoke was his interpretation of the Scripture - the Torah. so, if you took on a rabbi's yoke, you were taking on his interpreatation of the Torah because you thought it to be most accurate to what God really intended to mean when the Scripture was first written, and to live by that interpretation (following that rabbi's rules/interpretation of the laws) was to be close to God.

Jesus' yoke is easy.

because He is the fulfillment of the Torah. He fulfills the law.

i'm being blown away by this stuff.
